Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
